Minutes from Education Subcommittee Meeting June 3, 2008 Present: Grace Johnston, Paul Hammer, Tom Harned and Melinda Tuhus Bike to Work Day Next BTW Day is Friday, June 13, 7:30-9:30 a.m. in front of City Hall. We will contact all the city's major employers to let them know. We could use help with leafleting and bringing any food items (coffee provided by Koffee on Orange). See flyer on the ECC website. Contact Melinda at melinda.tuhus@gmail.com if you can help. July 19 City Bike Event at East Rock Park Grace has been attending the planning meetings. She committed ECC to running a bike jamboree (or Bike Safety Roadeo), bike decorating, and a bike parade with help from the City's Office of Cultural Affairs. Paul will try to get copies of a good bike safety brochure for kids that we found. Grace has requested some funds for purchase of supplies. (And if we receive funding from the New England Grassroots Environmental Fund we'll get it in time to order more helmets, bells, etc.) Please contact her at grace.johnston@gmail.com to help with this project. International Festival We had a very brief discussion of how to raise our visibility during the festival. We will try to have enough ECC brochures to pass out at all the festival bike rides and at the kiosks on the Green. Submitted by Melinda Tuhus
